Education Students to Host Fall Field Day, Provide Respite
On Saturday, Oct. 25, students from Lee University’s Helen DeVos College of Education (HDCOE) will host the fifth annual Fall Field Day, an outdoor event designed for individuals with exceptional needs. The event, which also provides a respite for parents and caregivers, will be held from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. at the Ray Conn Sports Complex, located at 2200 Parker Street.
Organized by students in the HDCOE benevolence class under the direction of Associate Professor Dr. Kimberly Moffett, the event will feature a range of engaging activities selected by participants. Offerings will include music, dance, sports, games, and other inclusive recreational options.
“This is a Saturday where individuals with disabilities can come and play or hang out with Lee students, giving parents a little freedom, knowing everyone will be taken care of,” said Moffett. “Our Lee students look forward to this event every year.”
Moffett explained that many children with exceptional needs often lack opportunities to engage in structured, social activities outside of school. Fall Field Day aims to provide a safe, welcoming space for participants while allowing caregivers to enjoy a few hours of well-deserved respite.
The event is free and open to individuals with exceptional needs of all ages. To learn more or to reserve a spot, contact Dr. Kimberly Moffett at [email protected] or call (423) 614-8672.
