Dr. Evaline Echols, professor of business at Lee University, was awarded the Presentation Excellence Award for her presentation of “Tearing Down Walls and Building Bridges Through Storytelling” at the 2014 International Conference on Learning and Administration in Higher Education (ICLAHE) in Nashville, Tenn., earlier this summer.

The Presentation Excellence Awards are based on votes cast by conference attendees, who were asked to rate each presentation. According to Conference Chair Dr. Edd R. Joyner, Echols received the highest rating possible.

“Having the opportunity to be a part of an international conference where I was able to not only present a paper but to participate in workshops with some of the top faculty members and businesspeople from all over the world was a distinct honor,” said Echols.

Echols has been working at Lee University since 1957. Outside the Department of Business, Echols served as the administrative assistant to the president of the university from 1957 to 1984. She then served as chair of the Business Department for 20 years.

Echols is a frequent speaker at seminars and professional meetings. She has written two books, “Climb Up Through Your Valleys” and “Mount Up With Wings,” both published by Pathway Press. She is also a contributing writer for two Pathway Press devotional books, “Sitting at His Feet” and “Basketful of Blessings.”

Originally from Jacksonville, Ala., Echols has two children, Eddie and Sharon, five grandsons, three granddaughters, and a great-grandson.
