Dorm Wars Competes for Charity

News

The fight for the title of “Dorm Wars Champion” will begin Feb. 20 at 8:00 p.m. in Lee University’s Walker Arena. Ten residence halls come together to compete in a number of races and games in the annual Dorm Wars Competition.

Organized by Lee’s Residential Life, Dorm Wars brings energy and spirit to the campus like no other event. Students and faculty alike come out to support their peers in competitions such as the shopping cart race, the food eating contest, and the obstacle course race.

Continuing the tradition that began two years ago, the residence halls will compete on behalf of a local or national charity of their choosing.

“We believe Dorm Wars is continuing to go beyond the thrill and energy of the evening to really unite our residence halls and our campus and to have an impact on the community and, in some cases, the world,” said Leia Duncan, Resident Director of Keeble Hall and Livingston Hall.

In addition to competing for cash prizes for their respective charities, each dorm will complete a service project for its charity and have the option of fundraising to further help the organization they have chosen.

The organizations include: Exodus Cry, Cleveland Emergency Shelter, Life 423, The H.O.P.E. Center, Unity Center, Great Strides for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Simone’s Kids, Children’s Advocacy Center, Homes of Love, and World Vision.

With over 1,500 students in attendance, Dorm Wars has become of one the most anticipated events on campus. At the end of the night the coveted title of “Dorm Wars Champion” will be given to one male hall and one female hall.

Admission is free and open to the public. For more information please contact Melissa Jones at [email protected] or 423-961-1829.
