New housing, parking, and a School of Business are not the only changes taking place on campus this summer. By the time students return this fall, Deacon Jones Dining Hall will have a whole new look.

“Deacon Jones Dining Hall has served us well, but it was in need of a renovation to keep it up to par with the rest of Lee’s buildings and amenities,” says Chris Conine, VP for Business & Finance.

According to Conine, the renovations are extensive and will transform not only the interior of the dining hall, but the outdoor space as well. New food platforms, more “made-to-order” stations, new meeting spaces, and an outdoor hangout with a fire pit and pizza oven are all part of this transformation.

“The new dining hall is a great experience for our guests,” adds Bruce Reed, general manager for Sodexo Dining Services. “From the completely new layout and new stations like ‘Simple Servings,’ to the outdoor patio grill, it is truly a wonderful destination for everyone.”

Sodexo continues to serve out of a temporary cafeteria operation in the DeVos Recreation Center, providing meals for the thousands of campers that pass through its doors during the summer months. Some of its retail outlets like Chick-fil-a and Dunkin’ Donuts are also operating normally.

Those interested in following the progress may keep up with the project through Facebook  or by visiting Lee Dining.
