Dr. Jerald Daffe, retired professor of pastoral studies at Lee University, recently released his 12th book, “Hearing God’s Call & Doing His Will,” published by Pathway Press.

“It is my hope and prayer that this book will be of significant impact in the reader’s life,” said Daffe, “as hearing God’s call and doing His will can be the most fulfilling aspect of one’s spiritual, emotional, and physical life.”

Daffe says it was a conversation with Mitchell E. Corder, director of Church Health and Evangelism for the Church of God, that inspired him to write his newest book. “Brother Corder asked me one day if I had an idea for my next book, and after telling him I had yet to find the topic, he said, ‘We need a book on calling,’ and thus the writing began.”

Included in the book are narratives from nine individuals who share their encounter with hearing God’s calling. “I hope their stories, along with each of the chapters, will provide encouragement in continuing to determine God’s calling and will for every reader,” said Daffe.

The book can be used as a study guide for anyone pursuing God’s calling, but Daffe especially encourages those to read it who might be doubting the call.

“This book finds the perfect balance between the spiritual and the practical as it relates to the call of God,” said Corder. “Dr. Daffe’s expertise as a pastoral studies professor, as well as his own experience preparing men and women for ministry, allows him to write with great clarity and authority about this subject.”

Daffe’s previous works include “Spiritual Revitalization: The Path to Revival,” “The Worship God Wants,” and “Clothing a Naked Church,” along with eight other books and nearly 100 articles, booklets, and independent fully-manuscripted studies.

Daffe retired from Lee in 2022 after 35 years of teaching classes such as Message of the Old Testament, Ministry of Preaching, Ministry and Work of the Holy Spirit, and Pastoral Ministry I and II. His areas of specialty are revivalism, worship, Church of God history, and the Emerging Church. While at Lee, he was a recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award in 1990 and the Excellence in Advising Award in 1999.

An ordained bishop in the Church of God, Daffe earned his Doctor of Ministries degree with a concentration in worship from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary, his Master of Arts in Church History from Wheaton Graduate School, and his Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Northwest Bible College.
