Crisp, Smith and Stott Receive SouthEast Bank Scholarships

News

For the second consecutive year, SouthEast Bank and Lee University have selected students for a scholarship program called the SouthEast Bank Scholar Award. This scholarship will provide each student with $7,000 in the 2014-2015 school year to offset the cost of tuition and assist in accomplishing academic and personal goals.

Recipients of the SouthEast Bank Scholars across the state include a prestigious group of students from Tennessee chosen by participating post-secondary institutions for their exceptional character and academic commitment.

This year’s recipients at Lee are Janna Crisp, a sophomore from Knoxville, Tenn.; Elliot Smith, a freshman from Kingston Springs, Tenn.; and Hannah Stott, a junior from Maryville, Tenn.

“SouthEast Bank is proud to support Lee University in awarding scholarships that help keep our future leaders right here in Tennessee,” said SouthEast Bank President Monty Montgomery, along with Senior Vice-President Jerry McGaha. “We are a true community bank operated by local employees who live and work alongside the people we serve, and we are committed to using our resources to reinvest in our schools, organizations, and neighborhoods. Through the SouthEast Bank Scholars program, we fulfill this mission by rewarding outstanding students who demonstrate a combination of academic excellence, community service, and financial need with the opportunity to reach their greatest potential through higher education.”

In addition to meeting the minimum criteria of achieving a 3.25 high school grade point average or a 23 ACT score, students who are awarded this distinct honor have also demonstrated financial need and community involvement.

“I am deeply appreciative of SouthEast Bank for its commitment to and generous support of our students,” said Chris Conine, vice president of Business and Finance at Lee. “We are excited to have SouthEast Bank as our partner to help support our future workforce as they prepare for positions of leadership in the Tennessee community.”
