Constitution Day Bowl Quiz photoOn Friday, Sept. 15, Lee University’s Center for Responsible Citizenship (CRC) hosted its 13th annual Constitution Day Quiz Bowl, where local high schoolers were tested in their knowledge of the U.S. Constitution and its founding history. The Quiz Bowl was headlined by a speech from Lee University President Dr. Mark Walker.

This year the CRC welcomed 22 teams from eight regional high schools and homeschool organizations. The event concluded with a championship round between McCallie and Chattanooga’s Girls Preparatory School. McCallie won the Quiz Bowl for their second year in a row.

“It’s exciting to see the hard work that these students put into studying pay off in such an intense competition.” said Audrey Haley, the CRC’s program coordinator, “I’m always inspired by their dedication year after year and their impressive knowledge of the U.S. Constitution. This is such a great opportunity to strengthen ties within the broader community and get to know each other better. We’re looking forward to this event again next year!”

The Constitution Bowl was made possible thanks to the continued support of Lee’s political science program, Lee alumni, the Jack Miller Center, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and members of the broader Cleveland community. Lee and the CRC received an award for “Outstanding Promotion of Constitution Week” from the Ocoee DAR for the work the CRC put into the Constitution Day Quiz Bowl.

On Oct. 27-28, the CRC will host its eighth annual intercollegiate symposium, this year on “Faith in the Public Square.” The event is open to members of Lee University and the broader community.
