Convocation to Begin Sunday

News

It is that time once again when Lee students turn their attention to spiritual renewal and gather for Convocation, a concentration of six chapel services in four days, Sept. 29 – Oct. 2. The first service will be on Sunday night, with Lee president Dr. Paul Conn giving the message.

On Monday evening, Lee welcomes back Josh Rice, Pastor of Leadership and Community Development at Mount Paran North Church of God in Marietta, Ga. After graduating from Lee in 1999, Rice went on to receive his MDiv from Columbia Theological Seminary and a PhD in New Testament Studies from the Lutheran School of Theology.

Pastor Loran Livingston will be speaking Tuesday evening. Livingston is a Lee alumnus and pastor to Central Church of God in Charlotte, N.C. He served as an evangelist for five years before accepting the pastorate of Central Church in 1977. He has spoken many times at Lee’s chapels and convocations.

Jason Browning, associate pastor at Westmore Church of God in Cleveland and a Lee graduate, will be speaking on Wednesday night. Serving in ministry since 2001, Browning began as a youth pastor in Clermont, Fla., and in 2007 began to serve at Westmore.

Weeknight services begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center and morning services at 10:40 a.m. in both the Conn Center and Dixon Center.

The morning services will be led by campus ensembles, beginning on Tuesday morning with Campus Choir in the Conn Center and Kingdom Players in the Dixon Center. On Thursday morning, Lee Singers will lead worship in the Conn Center, and Voices of Lee will perform in the Dixon Center.

Lee encourages all students and guests to come out and participate in this semester’s Convocation.
