Seven Collegiate Middle Level Association (CMLA) students recently represented Lee University at the annual Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) conference at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville.
Over 3,000 educators from the United States and other countries participated in an intense two and a half days of professional development which focused on how to serve students better in middle level schools (grades 5-8).
CMLA chapters are a membership category of the national AMLE organization and are exclusively for pre-service teachers. About 70 attendees representing 10 CMLA chapters met during the conference for special programing dedicated to help pre-service teachers prepare for the teaching profession.
Dr. Ashley Smith, Jr., past president of AMLE and sponsor of the Lee CMLA chapter, attended the conference with the students.
