Lee University and the Bank of Cleveland will present the annual tradition of “A Classic Christmas” on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. in the Conn Center.

“Lee’s School of Music is thrilled to offer Classic Christmas to our community once again,” said Dr. Cameron Weatherford, assistant professor of choral music. “What a joy for our faculty and students to have the opportunity to make holiday music for the community and campus families.”

“A Classic Christmas” has been a Lee University tradition for over 30 years. The COVID-19 pandemic caused the event to go virtual last year, but now Lee and the School of Music can present the concert in its full splendor this December.

The university is dedicating the 2021 concert to the memory of Sharon Taylor. Lee Chancellor Dr. Paul Conn announced: “Sharon was so greatly loved in this community, and such a friend of Lee. She enjoyed this Christmas concert personally in earlier years, and we are honored to present it in a quiet but heartfelt tribute to her this year.”

This year’s concert will feature appearances by the Lee Orchestra, Lee Handbell Choir, Chorale, Choral Union, Ladies of Lee, and Lee voice professors Drs. Ron and Chery Brendel.

“This event is one of the most popular musical presentations here at Lee, and we are excited to share it in person this year,” said Weatherford. “We expect a full house to hear our instrumentalists, choral ensembles, and soloists as we kick off the Christmas season.”

Performances will include a variety of holiday favorites such as “Gloria,” “I Saw Three Ships,” “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Feliz Navidad,” and “Silent Night.”

Jazz Combo will perform prior to the event as guests arrive.

“A Classic Christmas” is free and open to the public, and for the first time, non-ticketed. Seats will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 1:45 p.m. Overflow seating will be available in the Dixon Center with big-screen video streaming. Bank of Cleveland, the only locally owned and operated bank in Cleveland/Bradley County, joins Lee in sponsoring this year’s Classic Christmas for the third year.
