Events, Music, News

Lee University’s Choral Union will perform “A Dream of Spring” concert on Friday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall, under the direction of Dr. Joshua Cheney, assistant professor of choral music at Lee.

The performance will include pieces from Peter Anglea, Eric Barnum, Johannes Brahms, Koji Kondo, Felix Mendelssohn, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Randall Thompson.
“The evening is intended to be a reflection on the end of winter and the beginning of spring,” said Cheney.

Choral Union performs choral music and major masterworks for mixed chorus and orchestra and is a unique blend of Lee music and non-music majors.

Cheney joined Lee’s faculty in fall 2018. In addition to teaching, he directs Lee’s new Men’s Choir. Prior to Lee, he served as a graduate teaching assistant at Louisiana State University (LSU). While as LSU, he was also the conductor for Chamber Singers, an assistant conductor for the A Cappella Choir and Tiger Glee Club, and the choral alumni relations coordinator.

Cheney received his Doctor of Musical Arts from LSU, his Master of Music from Mercer University, and his Bachelor of Arts from Campbell University.

The concert is a free, non-ticketed event, and it is open to the public.
