Choral Union, Chorale to Perform Thursday

Events, Music, News

Chorale springLee University Choral Union and Lee University Chorale will present “Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs” on Thursday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall.

“The theme of this year’s spring concert explores the spiritual implications of the Psalms and great hymns and songs of the faith, and we are honored to present them to our audience,” said Dr. Cameron Weatherford, assistant professor of choral music and director of Choral Union.

According to Weatherford, the concert will showcase different music styles and languages. Choral Union will perform pieces including “Dixit Dominus,” by Antonio Vivaldi and “Steal Away,” a traditional spiritual arranged by Roland Carter. Chorale will perform pieces such as Jacob Narverud’s “Allelujah” and Cyrillus Kreek’s “Taaveti laulud,” among others.

Choral Union is an ensemble consisting of both music and non-music majors and is open to any student who is interested with no audition required.

Directed by School of Music Dean Dr. William Green, Chorale is an ensemble of highly motivated vocalists selected by audition. An emphasis is placed on the diversity and breadth of advanced, artistic choral literature. Chorale has been featured in performances with the Chattanooga Symphony, at Carnegie Hall, and most recently in Italy and Austria as an invited guest for the 2022 Advent Festival in Vienna.

The performance is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public. Pangle Hall is located on the corner of Church Street and Central Avenue.
