Center for Calling & Career Hosts Expo

Center for Calling and Career, News

Lee University’s Center for Calling and Career recently hosted its biannual Career & Internship Expo for both students and the community. The event was a networking opportunity for participants to meet with community businesses and regional organizations, with professional headshots available, as well.

“This event marks the culmination of our semester-long work in the Center,” said Jennifer Turner, director of the Center for Calling and Career. “We’ve guided students in discovering their Clifton Strengths, exploring majors and career paths, and preparing for professional opportunities through mock interviews and résumé reviews. Today, we celebrate their readiness to step into the workforce and live out their calling—impacting the world for Christ through their vocations.”

The event lasted four hours with many of the employers utilizing the time to allow students to apply for internships and jobs, reviewing applicants’ resumes, and conducting interviews.

“The career fair was an incredible experience, giving me the chance to explore a wide range of professions and industries,” said junior accounting major Layla Colwell. “As an accounting student, I particularly enjoyed learning how accounting is applied across the various fields represented. I also value Lee’s dedication to connecting students with professionals in their areas of interest.”

The 28 businesses represented included Chattanooga Lookouts, Christ in Youth, Colonial Life – Sales, Covenant Logistics, Eagle Sky Camp, Emerald Youth Foundation, Elic, Family Resource Agency, Hearth Hospice, Home Instead Care, Horton Haven Camp, Memphis Teacher Residency, New York Life Insurance, Reliance Partners, Rolling Hills Community Church, Sedlock Insurance Agency, Silverdale Baptist Academy, SL World, Southern Champion Tray, Tennessee Department of Children Services, Tennessee Valley Credit Union, Triple R Ranch, Unum Insurance, U.S. Army, Wears Valley Ranch, and Willowbend Farms.

“These employers are seeking out Lee students because of the well-rounded nature of their education,” said Turner. “They all mentioned how well spoken, kind, and professional our students were throughout the day.”

The Center for Calling & Career will host another Career & Internship Expo in the spring for both students and the community.
