Lee University’s Center for Calling and Career recently hosted its biannual Career and Internship Expo, giving students the opportunity to network with businesses in the community.
 
“Following the center’s inaugural Career Boot Camp, the Career and Internship Expo served as a culminating event, welcoming area employers to engage with prepared undergraduates and make connections for summer and school-year internships, as well as part-time and full-time employment,” said Jennifer Turner, director of the Center for Calling and Career. “To serve as a bridge between incredible businesses and talented students, Lee University cherishes this opportunity to strengthen both our campus and our community. We hope more companies will join future events at Lee, knowing it will be time well spent.”
 
The three-hour event allowed students and community members to connect with employers, complete applications, and review resumes. Attendees could also have professional headshots taken.
 
The 23 companies in attendance included U.S. Xpress Inc., Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, Hearth Hospice, Tennessee Highway Patrol, OneHope, Tennessee Aquarium, Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, Southern Champion Tray, Rolling Hills Community Church, Life Bridges Inc., Covenant Logistics, Reliance Partners, Unum, Emerald Youth Foundation, Southwestern Advantage, Telamon Corporation, Eagle Sky Camp, Tennessee National Guard Cleveland, Chattanooga 2.0, Axle Logistics, English Language Institute China ELIC, Chattanooga Fellows Programs and Lincoln Memorial University School of Law.
 
“Going to the career fair turned out to be a pivotal moment for me,” said Makenna Orrick, a Lee senior public relations major. “I connected with a great company, met a Lee alum who guided me through the process, and walked away with an interview opportunity I wouldn’t have had otherwise.”
 
The Center for Calling and Career hosts the event each semester, and students and community members are welcome to attend.
