Brass Choir to Perform Monday

News

On Monday, Nov. 24, Lee’s newest instrumental ensemble, Brass Choir, will present its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall. The Brass Choir is directed by faculty member Dr. Nathan Warner.

Brass Choir will perform works by Johann Strauss, Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler, Aurelio Bonelli, Henry Purcell, Giovanni Gabrieli, and Paul Holmes.

The ensemble, formed this semester, consists of 19 musicians: two percussionists and 17 brass players: trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba.

Warner, assistant professor of music, earned his doctor of musical arts in trumpet performance from Stony Brook University in New York. He performs regularly as a classical, orchestral, commercial, big band, and jazz artist in New York City, where he lived for 15 years. As an advocate for music education for inner city youth, Warner served as the music teacher at St. Mark the Evangelist School in Harlem, New York. He has also worked with the New York Pops Orchestra Outreach Program and the Hartwick College Summer Music Festival and Institute.

This concert is a free, non-ticketed event and open to the public.
