Assad to Continue U-Church Season

News

The Lee University U-Church season will continue with Christian artist Audrey Assad on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center.

Assad is an independent singer, musician, and songwriter whose musical influences range from Paul Simon to Jack White. She was signed to Christian record label Sparrow Records for four years until she began her independent career in 2011.

“It’s very exciting knowing the direction that Audrey has taken with this current tour,” said U-Church Director Josh York. “The way she incorporates visual art and traditional instrumentation facilitates corporate prayer and worship in a unique way that I believe will be appreciated by our students and guests.”

Assad has a passion for bringing to light the peculiarities and joys of the Sacrament, which can be seen through the music she makes.

Her latest album, “Fortunate Fall,” was released in August of 2013. Paid for through a fan-based fundraising campaign, the album is full of songs for liturgy, personal prayer, and corporate worship.

According to Assad, her music “explores the beauty of human need, in that needing God allows us to know God is Christ the Redeemer and the Holy Spirit the Revealer.”

U-Church is a free, non-ticketed event for students, alumni and the community. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and seating is first come, first serve.

Childcare is available for all who attend. Please contact Christie Wyatt at [email protected] for more information.
