Lee University freshman Axel Arzola and Lee alumnus Chad Guyton
were recently announced as the winners of Kia Motors Music Video
competition. The competition required entrants to submit a
90-second music video to the song “In My Mind” by Axwell. The grand
prize was a brand new 2013 Kia Soul.

Finalists were chosen through online voters. Applicants were
encouraged to promote their video on a variety of social media
sites while voting was open through Oct. 4. Once voting ended a
panel of judges chose the winners. This panel included members of
the band Far East Movement and directors Mickey Finnegan and Paul
Hunter.

Arzola, a native of Cuba, recently moved to Cleveland, Tenn. in
order to pursue his dream of becoming a filmmaker as a
telecommunications major. He has had many other successes including
having one of his short films screened in the Havana Film Festival.

“I like the craziness on set,” said Arzola. “You don’t get to
think, you just go. I love the creativity that goes along with
that.”

Guyton graduated from Lee in 1999 with a degree in
communications. While at Lee he was a part of the original Voices
of Lee ensemble and a member of Upsilon Xi.

Currently Guyton works at the Church of God Headquarters as the
Coordinator of Media. Additionally, he serves as the creative
director for 5:01 Studios, a production company also based in
Cleveland, Tenn.

“Working with all of the kids was exciting and challenging,”
said Guyton. “We only had about four hours to shoot the video, but
it ended up being very rewarding.”

The duo is excited about this award and hopes to do more work
together in the future. Both hope to move forward into
filmmaking.
