Lee University recently announced
Justin Arnwine as the 2013 recipient of the Charles Paul Conn Award. Lee
President Dr. Paul Conn recognized him for this honor during the May
commissioning service.
 

This award is given to a Lee senior
who demonstrates the greatest promise of achievement in graduate or
professional studies after graduating from Lee. Established in 1996, it is
named after Lee’s sixteenth president. Each department may nominate one student
for the award, and from these nominees a winner is selected by a faculty vote.
 

Arnwine, a native of Knoxville,
Tenn., graduated from Lee on May 4 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and
Theological Studies.
 

“It’s not hard for us to look ahead
and see Justin’s future as an outstanding scholar,” said Dr. Rickie Moore,
chair of Lee’s Department of Theology.
 

Arnwine says his life’s calling and passion is “to
teach the languages of the early Church and to preach the Gospel of our Lord
Jesus Christ through the faithful work of scholarship.”
 

While at Lee, Arnwine received the
Zondervan awards for Hebrew and Biblical languages in 2012, and was most
recently named the Theology Departmental Award winner for 2013, given to one
graduating senior. He was also chosen for the department Greek award in 2011.
 

Arnwine has been a member of Phi
Eta Sigma National Honor Society, the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society,
a participant in the Poiema Scholar Retreat, and a Centennial Scholar for all
four years. He also worked as a teaching assistant for Biblical Hebrew and
attended the Biblical Lands Study Tour.
 

“One thing that fuels our faith in
Justin’s future is the deep sense of calling that drives his academic work,”
said Moore. “It reveals an attitude of humility and service. When it comes to
promise for distinction in graduate studies, we have no doubt about the bright
future ahead for Justin.”
 

Arnwine received a tuition
scholarship from Vanderbilt University for the Masters in Theological Studies
program which he will begin this fall.
