Kasey Knight Trenum, a 1996 graduate of Lee University, recently had her book, “Couponing for the Rest of Us: The Not-So-Extreme Guide to Saving More,” published by Revell Books.

“Faced with mounting bills after my husband was downsized five years ago, I turned to coupons to plug the hole in our savings account,” said Trenum. “I spent hours researching how to use them effectively and easily reduced my weekly grocery bill by 75 percent.”

In “Couponing for the Rest of Us,” Trenum shares the ins and outs of couponing and all the secrets she has put to good use over the years. Her goal is to help others discover ways to save hundreds of dollars every month without letting it take over their lives.

“I’ve learned how to balance savings with having a life and without it becoming an obsession,” said Trenum. “I’ve never woken up singing the praises of a coupon; I’ve just sung the joys of saving a ton of money.”

Trenum’s book shows readers where to find coupons for what their family eats, how to make the internet do the work for them, how to make grocery shopping less stressful, how to turn money saved in to money shared, and more.

“You don’t have to be in love with coupons or compute math in your head,” Trenum said. “You just have to figure out how to make it fit into your world; Balance is the key.”

Trenum is the cofounder of the couponing blog, Time 2 $ave, and conducts workshops frequently. Her weekly column can be read in Scripps newspapers nationwide. Trenum’s work has been featured in Parade and All You, and she has been interviewed on National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” and Headline News’ “Making it in America.”

Trenum and her husband and children live in Chattanooga.
