News

Lee University’s Campus Recreation and the Lee University Anglers Fishing Club, in partnership with Southern Brothers Anglers, Bendabout Farms and Pryor Lake, will host the 106th ACA (American Casting Association) North America National Championship Tournament August 5-9 in Cleveland.

“We are honored to host this prestigious and historical event for the first time in the Southeast,” said Dr. Guy DeLoach, SoBro Anglers’ president and business professor at Lee.

The tournament includes both distance and accuracy events. The world’s top casters in both fly casting and bait casting will compete. Participants will meet the current World Champion Steve Rajeff and see top casters from around the globe. Bass and fly fishing anglers will have the opportunity to watch the world’s best at accuracy casting on water courses.

“This year we will not only welcome some of the world’s greatest casters,” said DeLoach, “but we will also welcome a new generation of competitors, and in the end, crown new champions and continue to build the great sports of fly and bass fishing.”

The competition is open to all ages from any skill level. Events will take place beginning at 8 a.m. daily – at Bendabout Farms Polo fields on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 5-6, and at Pryor Lake Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 7-9.

Fly fishing and bait caster enthusiasts are encouraged to come and watch free of charge and pick up casting tips from the world’s best.
