School of Business Hosts CBFA Conference

CBFA members are shown at the Museum Center at 5ive Points for the annual award ceremony.

Lee University recently hosted the Christian Business Faculty Association (CBFA) Annual Conference and Doctoral Student Summit. Over 150 attendees representing 67 different institutions from around the world came to campus to participate in discussions, panels, and presentations centered around the theme of “Illuminating the Marketplace: Carrying the Light of Christ in a Secular World.”

“Welcoming business faculty from across the country – and even internationally – was an incredible honor for the Lee University School of Business,” said Dr. Holly Perleoni, associate dean for the School of Business. “What made it truly special was seeing our entire campus community come together to serve – faculty, staff, and students working side-by-side to create a welcoming and memorable experience for our guests. We’re grateful for the opportunity to showcase not only our campus, but the spirit of community that defines Lee. The conference served as a reminder of the strength of the Christian business education community and the impact we can have when we gather to share ideas, faith, and purpose.”

Thursday evening’s opening reception featured a keynote presentation by Lee University President Dr. Phil Cook, followed by a performance of the vocal ensemble Voices of Lee, directed by Danny Murray.

Friday and Saturday mornings began with worship sessions led by Lee students. Attendees then had the opportunity to participate in concurrent sessions, which focused on classroom teaching, pedagogy, and research practices. The sessions included discussions on the ethical use of AI, innovative case studies, and collaborative research.

Conference participants also had the opportunity to tour one of several manufacturing plants in the Cleveland area, including Wacker, Wind River Built, Duracell, and Eaton Corporation. The event closed on Saturday evening with the CBFA Awards Banquet at the Museum Center at 5ive Points in downtown Cleveland, with a performance by the Lee Singers.

“We were delighted to be selected as the host for this year’s conference,” said Dr. Shane Griffith, dean of Lee’s School of Business. “It was a privilege to serve CBFA and to showcase Lee University and our Cleveland community. Our faculty, staff, and students represented us exceptionally well as they welcomed guests and supported every aspect of the event. I am confident the ideas and connections formed here will have a lasting impact on Christian business education.”
