2013 Teen Talent

News

Lee University is proud to host the 2013 Church of God Teen Talent from July 29-August 2.

Teen Talent is an international competition which aims to help young people ages 13-19 discover their talents, develop that talent, and dedicate it to better serve the Lord.

“Teen Talent is more than a competitive activity to determine who rates first and second,” said Gary Lewis, international director of Youth and Discipleship for the Church of God. “It is a ministry to Church of God youth.”

The five-day event features competition in music, art, drama, multimedia, creative writing, and Bible.

“Competition is a vital factor in the program,” added Lewis. “Competition, coupled with love and guidance, is a strong force in challenging youth to reach their full potential and to express themselves constructively for the glory of God.”

Dr. Walt Mauldin, vice president for administration, oversees Lee University’s role in Teen Talent along with 22 other faculty and staff members and approximately 50 student staff members.

“We are thrilled that the Church of God has placed their confidence in Lee once again by allowing us to host this international competition,” said Mauldin. “It is always an honor to work with such enthusiastic young people throughout the denomination. They are the best!”

In addition to the competitions, activities for Teen Talent participants will be coordinated by Lee throughout the week, including a block party, a worship rally, and State Wars, a team relay contest in which participants represent their home states.

The Teen Talent Awards Festival will take place on Friday, Aug. 2 at 8 p.m. on the lawn of Lee’s Science and Math Complex and will welcome more than 4000 guests, including participants and their families.

Lee will be streaming the event live on multiple players throughout the week. To view the live stream, visit http://leeuniversity.edu/video/ and click on the links provided.
