The School of Music at Lee University invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position as Director of Bands, Assistant Professor of Music Education to begin in August of 2024. This individual should be passionate and intentional about students’ growth, exploration, and achievement in their knowledge and skill of music through a variety of planned music experiences. Candidates must be committed to a career of excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring in a Christian environment. Rank is commensurate with experience. Primary responsibilities involve conducting the Wind Ensemble, scheduling recruitment and enrichment performance opportunities throughout the year, coordinating and giving direction to instrumental music education, teaching both introductory and upper-division courses in instrumental music education. Additional duties include development and maintenance of an active recruitment strategy for instrumental music, supervision of student teachers, mentoring students, and working cooperatively with faculty and staff across the campus. Providing support and guidance for other instrumental ensembles will be an important component of this position.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have evidence of successful public-school teaching and an advanced degree in music education.  A doctorate in music education or a closely related field is preferred.  Proven background in program administration and team leadership will be an essential element.

Other required qualifications include Christian commitment, and an ability to integrate elements of the Christian faith into course instruction. Previous college teaching experience is preferred but not required. Individuals from underrepresented populations are strongly encouraged to apply.
