The School of Music at Lee University invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in Vocal/General Music Education to begin in August of 2024. This individual should be passionate and intentional about students’ growth, exploration, and achievement in their knowledge and skill of music through a variety of planned music experiences. Candidates must be committed to a career of excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring in a Christian environment. Rank is commensurate with experience. DUTIES
Primary responsibilities involve teaching both introductory and upper-division courses in music education including elementary methods and secondary choral methods. Obtaining and using evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responds to student needs will be a key assignment. Additional duties include supervision of student teachers, mentoring students, recruitment, and working cooperatively with faculty and staff across the campus.

Opportunities for ensemble leadership could be available for the qualified candidate.

QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, candidates must have three years of successful public-school teaching and an advanced degree in music education.  A doctorate in music education or a closely related field is preferred.

Other required qualifications include Christian commitment, and an ability to integrate elements of the Christian faith into course instruction. Previous college teaching experience is preferred but not required. Individuals from underrepresented populations are strongly encouraged to apply.
