The Department of Language & Literature at Lee University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in American Literature beginning August 2026.  The application deadline is March 1, 2026.

The department is seeking a faculty member committed to excellence in teaching, in serving students, and in integrating faith and learning on a Christian liberal arts campus. A Ph.D. in American Literature is preferred.  The ideal candidate will have primary or secondary expertise in rhetoric, African American literature, or other American minority literatures.  This position requires commitment to a liberal arts core, development of specialty upper-level courses, and investment in the department’s mission of spiritual formation by means of academic discipleship.  The candidate should expect to teach 12 hours each semester, comprised of core composition, Western literature and American literature courses.  Additional faculty responsibilities include student advising and university service.
