Lee University allows students to opt out of submitting national test scores from ACT/SAT/CLT and choose the test-optional path for admission.
Students choosing to be test-optional must:
- Submit an admissions application applytolee.com.
- Submit an official high school transcript.
- Email their admissions counselor or [email protected] and request to be admitted as a test-optional student.
- Test-optional students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for acceptance.
- To determine admissions acceptance, test-optional students will be evaluated based on academic performance and rigor.
- Some academic programs and student groups may still require test scores. Please check your academic program in our university catalog.
Awarding Merit Scholarships to Test-Optional Students
Lee University’s merit awarding system uses the combination of both ACT or equivalent SAT/CLT score and unweighted GPA to determine a student’s academic merit award level.
Students choosing the test-optional path must complete the Scholarship Profile which may be completed through the application portal. To award an academic merit award scholarship, Lee University will evaluate academic performance, course rigor, class rank, personal statements, and co-curricular involvement submitted on the Scholarship Profile to determine a test-optional student’s merit award.

Will I be eligible for an academic merit scholarship as a test-optional applicant?
Yes! Test-optional applicants are eligible to apply for academic scholarships as long as they complete the Scholarship Profile and have submitted their high school transcript.
Test-optional students interested in applying for competitive scholarships must submit test scores. Competitive scholarships are by invitation based on GPA and test scores.
If I submit a test score for course placement, can I still be considered test-optional for merit awarding?
Yes
If I choose to submit a test score and later decide to be test-optional, can I change?
We encourage all students to submit a test score over being test-optional. If you submit a test score and want to change to a test-optional student to be evaluated for merit, please contact your admissions counselor to discuss.
The reverse is also true. If you have not submitted a test score and later decide to do so, you should reach out to your admissions counselor to discuss.
What if I am an International Student? Can I be accepted without national test scores?
International applicants must submit test scores that demonstrate English proficiency. Lee University accepts the IELTS, TOEFL, and DUOLINGO English proficiency scores.
Lee University does accept SAT scores in lieu of English proficiency assessments if they meet the minimum admission requirement of 900 or above.
International students are eligible for merit awards only if they submit one of the three national test scores: ACT, SAT, or CLT. Merit awards for international students are not based on English Proficiency assessments.
