News

The Lee University Chorale and
Lee University Wind Ensemble will present a joint concert on Monday, April 22,
2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center.

Dean of the School of Music
William R. Green will conduct Chorale, the 36-voice select ensemble of highly
motivated vocalists who are chosen by audition. Chorale performs a diverse
selection of traditional choral literature.

Professor of Music
David R. Holsinger, renowned composer and band clinician, will conduct Wind
Ensemble, a group committed to the highest level of performance of
instrumental ensemble literature for winds and percussion.

The
program will include works from composers such as René Clausen, Giuseppe
Verdi, Giedrus Svilianis, George Gershwin, Gustav Holst, and Holsinger.

Wind Ensemble and Chorale will join together to perform “Song of
Moses,” a four-movement work for band and chorus written by Holsinger. The
movements are entitled, “Listen Oh Heavens, I Will Speak,” “I Will Proclaim
the Name of the Lord,” “The Lord’s Portion is His People,” and “See Now That
I, Myself, am He!” The work was premiered by the United States Air Force Band
and Singing Sergeants, and was selected for broadcast nationally on a National
Public Radio Special Project in Vocal Music in August 1997.

The
concert is open to the public, non-ticketed and free of charge. For more
