SOM to Host Bradley Knight Workshops
Lee University’s School of Music will host guest artist Bradley Knight for an afternoon and evening of workshops on Thursday, Nov. 12.
The workshops offered include: “Lessons in the Essentials of the Music Ministry” at 1:10 p.m. in Curtsinger School of Music, Room 200; “Technology for Worship” at 2:35 p.m. in Curtsinger Room 223; “In the Studio – What One Should Know About Recording” at 4 p.m. in the Conn Center; and “Arranging for the Church” at 7 p.m. in the Conn Center.

Knight studied at Lee in the 1990s and has gone on to become a successful arranger of church music. His arranging pen has contributed to the sound of many artists, from Bill Gaither’s Homecoming Series to The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Lee Greenwood, LeAnn Rimes, Vestal Goodman, Christ Church Choir, The Prestonwood Choir, Covenant Worship, and many more. He also wrote orchestrations for the Sherwood Pictures film “Courageous,” and penned all the arrangements for the Lee University Voices of Lee as they competed on NBC’s The Sing Off in 2009.
Aside from those experiences, Knight’s biggest impact is in the world of church music, particularly choral music. He has arranged thousands of songs for choral publishing companies over the years, and every Sunday his arrangements are sung in thousands of churches all over America. While writing these arrangements for churches, Knight has also served as staff arranger for two influential churches, Christ Church Nashville, and the 30,000-member Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, where he eventually became worship leader and directed their 500-voice choir.
“We are so excited to have Bradley in Cleveland for a whole day of sessions for church music leaders,” said Randy Sheeks, assistant professor of music at Lee.
This workshop is open to the public and free of charge.
