Lee Sociology Honor Society Inducts Students

Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD), the national honor society for sociology, recently inducted five Lee University students.

The inductees were Sidney Barham of Black Mountain, North Carolina; Dylan Dixon of Gastonia, North Carolina; Shelby Gilreath of Pompano Beach, Florida; Rebecca Hooper of Nashville, Tennessee; and Hannah Wimberly of Hillsboro, Tennessee.

The guest speaker for the induction event was Dr. Paul Serwinek, an applied sociologist and social psychologist, formerly of Tyndale College and editor of Christian Sociologists’ publications. Awards were presented by Dr. Ollie Lee, co-founder of Lee’s AKD chapter, accompanied by Lindsey Johnson, Steering Committee member of AKD.

AKD is an affiliate of the American Sociological Association and maintains high standards for scholarship and research. It seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.
