Steve Benne is an alumnus of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in Bloomington. He is principal double bassist with the Knoxville Symphony. Before coming to Knoxville, he performed with the New American Chamber Orchestra. Steve has performed at the Grand Teton Music Festival, the Grec Festival, and the Priory of Chirens Chamber Music Festival. He premiered the Harbison Concerto for the Bass Viol with the Knoxville Symphony. Steve’s teachers include Lawrence Hurst, Stuart Sankey, and Eldon Obrecht. He plays a Cremonese bass made in 1683 by Aegidius Barzellini.
