Wangaard Named Director at Hibbett Sports
Lee University alumna and Cleveland native Sarah Sharp Wangaard (class of ‘07) was recently promoted to director of digital marketing for Hibbett Sporting Goods Inc. In this position, she will oversee the digital and mobile marketing strategy for the company.
During her career with Hibbett Sports, she has held previous positions as website marketing coordinator and digital design and communications manager.
Wangaard graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s of communication-public relations. While at Lee, Wangaard was on the Dean’s list and was a Presidential Scholarship recipient.
She attributes much of her education and experience with Lee’s communication department as preparation for her “real world” career in marketing.
“The experience and knowledge that I gained through classes that allowed students to work hands-on with clients in the Cleveland community were some of the most helpful,” Wangaard said. “By enabling us to meet with clients, formulate, and execute marketing and public relations campaigns, I was able to gain invaluable leadership, critical thinking, and strategic skills that I am now able to use in my new position on a daily basis.”
Wangaard was involved in a number of campus activities including a position as the art editor for the Lee Review and membership in Lee’s Public Relations Student Society of America and Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges. Wangaard was also a member of the Lady Flames Soccer team for the 2003-04 season and was involved in the Greek letter society Epsilon Lambda Phi.
Wangaard lives in Birmingham, Ala., with her husband, Elias, and 3-year-old daughter, Leah.
