Lee’s School of Business recently hosted an etiquette dinner for 46 business students to meet with representatives from local and regional businesses. 

Amy Dummer, assistant dean to the School of Business and assistant professor in accounting, collaborated with Kristin Pope, director of the Center for Calling and Career to provide this opportunity for students to build formal relationships with business professionals, ask questions about expectations for new hires, and discover employment and internship opportunities. 

Local businesses such as Institute of Internal Auditors, Morning Pointe Senior Living, LMBC Accounting, and UNUM Insurance, sponsored tables for students to engage in conversation and professional networking. 

“The networking and etiquette dinner is one of our most popular events,” said Dummer. “We are blessed to have so many local business leaders take the time to pour into our students. I am grateful for the opportunity to help students begin building relationships and networks of professional connections that will help set them up for future successes.” 

The event took place at Catch Bar and Grill in downtown Cleveland. 

“This was a fantastic event equipping students with important knowledge and access to employers who shared first-hand experiences,” said Amanda Conner, sponsor for the Institute of Internal Auditors. “I am continually impressed with the business-world-ready students Lee University produces.” 

Dummer and Pope hosted the first such event in 2022 and plan to host it annually.  

“The dinner was a great opportunity to meet with professionals and share an amazing meal together,” said Micah Debelak, one of the students who attended the event. “I thoroughly enjoyed their advice and guidance.”
