Lange Crowned Homecoming Queen

Lee University senior accounting major Kat Lange was crowned Homecoming Queen during the We Are Lee broadcast at the Homecoming celebrations earlier this month.

“I thank Lee University for everything that has been poured into me, during my time at Lee” said Lange. “It has caused me to grow in so many exceptional ways.”

Lange is from Edwardsville, Illinois. She is currently a Gateway peer leader and a member of the Lee clubs Imago Dei and Best Buddies. Lange is also pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Lee. She was escorted by Brennan Humphreys.

Humphreys is an English literature major from Knoxville, Tennessee. He is a volunteer at the Lee Center for English Language and Literacy, president of the Lee Running Club, and a member of both the Lee honors program Kairos and the Lee English honor society Sigma Tau Delta. He currently works at the Lee Writing Center and was involved in residential life his sophomore and junior years at Lee.

All Homecoming court representatives were from Lee’s senior class and include Dory Hatchett, Mallory Smolen, and Macey Williams.

Hatchett is from Clarksville, Georgia, and is a theological and professional studies major with a minor in both intercultural studies and Christian ministry. Hatchett is currently a member of the Alternative Chapel planning committee, Theta Alpha Kappa National Honors Society for religious and theological studies, and the Lee Service Council. She works as a student worker and teaching assistant for Lee’s theology department and was a chaplain with Residential Life and Housing for two years. She was also a School of Religion Poiema Scholarship recipient. Hatchett was escorted by Matt Smolen.

Matt Smolen, a biology major, is from Evansville, Indiana. He is a member of the Lee cheer team, the Breakfast Club, an iMASS Scholar, a Gateway peer leader, and on the cabinet for the Student Leadership Council (SLC). He is also the former chairperson for the SLC.

Mallory Smolen is a discipleship ministry major from Evansville, Indiana. She is a student worker in First Year Programs and Office of Student Development, a Gateway peer leader, current director of Parade of Favorites, and chairperson of the SLC. She also spent one year as assistant director of Parade of Favorites. Mallory Smolen was escorted by Teagan Lenox.

Lenox, a business administration major with a minor in psychology, is from Franklin, Tennessee. He is the senior resident assistant for Brinsfield and B.L. Hicks dorms, a member of Be the Bridge, and on the Lee Flames Track and Field team.

Williams is a nursing major from Habersham, Georgia, who serves as president of Epsilon Lambda Phi. She is also a student worker for First Year Programs, Worthy Now student representative, a peer leader, and former Lee Summer Honors residential assistant. Williams was escorted by Stephen Carter.

Carter, a business management major from Franklin, Tennessee, is a Lee Gateway peer leader, a teaching assistant in the School of Business, the Lee Flames Men’s Basketball manager and former president of Phi Beta Lambda.
