Health Science, Pre PA Emphasis
Class of Spring 2020
Mikala Willett, from Spring Hill, Tennessee, is active in the Lee community as a site leader for Backyard Ministries, a weekly program that strives to tutor, mentor, and provide good role models for children growing up in underprivileged communities. She is also involved in Cru, a campus bible study; Alpha Phi Delta, a pre-med academic organization; and intramurals.
“Going into my third year at Lee, I have learned more about myself than I ever expected to,” said Mikala. “Backyard has taught me what it means to love Jesus and, through serving those kids, I have seen myself grow in my strengths but I have also had the joy of seeing the people I serve beside grow into the leaders they are.”
Mikala, currently in her junior year, received the presidential scholarship her freshman year and has maintained the honors scholarship since her sophomore year.
This past summer, Mikala worked as a medical assistant at Mulberry Clinics in her hometown. She also serves as a tutor, peer leader, and teacher’s assistant on campus.
After graduation, Mikala plans to go to graduate school in pursuit of becoming a physician’s assistant.
