About Campus Safety

Ashley R. Mew
Director, Campus Safety
amew@leeuniveristy.edu

The Department of Campus Safety has the responsibility of providing a safe environment for the entire campus. This department is under the direct supervision of the Vice President for Student Life.

Suspicious activities involving student and non-student crimes are reported to the Department of Campus Safety. If you are in imminent danger or are threatened, call the Cleveland Police Department (9-911) then call Lee University Campus Safety. To report a crime or suspicious activity, call Lee University Campus Safety at 303-4444.

Safety Officers patrol the campus on foot and in marked University vehicles. These officers observe and detect crimes and violations of campus safety and regulations and act from an information or advisory role, rather than a regulatory agency. They are not sworn or armed police officers, but protect the campus from outside threats by restricting campus access to authorized personnel, staff, and faculty or their guests. Safety Officers maintain close coordination with Resident Directors.

Lee University administration, faculty, staff, and students are to report all criminal incidents, threats, injuries, property loss, accidents, safety hazards, etc., to the Department of Campus Safety at 303-4444. Prompt notification helps to facilitate reporting to the necessary authorities and assists in documenting trouble spots where corrective measures can be taken, thereby enhancing crime prevention.
