Atkins-Ellis was dedicated in September 1994 in honor of Iris and Henry Atkins with gratitude for their generosity to the university. Atkins-Ellis also stands as a memorial to the original Ellis Hall that was lost to fire in November 1993. Ellis Hall was named in honor of the Reverend J.B. Ellis, the third president of Lee College.
