    About Lee

  • About Lee's Growth

Lee has grown from 1,214 (Fall 1986) to 4,922 (Fall 2013) under the leadership of president Paul Conn. Lee's academics, Christian atmosphere, and affordable tuition has made it one of the top 10 Christian universities in size. In the past four years, Lee has added new faculty members on full-time tenure tracks in order to maintain a teacher/student ratio of 18 to 1. Students currently represent 50 states and 57 countries. Lee has also become a very popular place for students who are transferring, with more than 200 transfers each fall.

  • The Lee University family appreciates diversity in many areas. Lee University serves 5,104 total students this year, including 3,434 traditional undergraduates and 351 graduate-level students on campus. Students came to Lee from 49 U.S. states and 50 different nations, though the majority is from the southeastern United States. Lee has traditionally served many first-generation college students (28%), and 42% of students are from low-income families. Females represent 58% of students, and 18% are minority. The university’s adult online division enrolled 723 non-traditional students and 139 students are enrolled at one of three international locations.

Diversity also extends to academic preparedness. Lee attracts a significant number of high-achieving students, and this fall 26% of entering freshmen received from $10,000 to $13,200 (full-tuition) merit scholarships for the first year based on ACT or SAT scores at the 90th percentile or above. Lee offers the Kairos Scholars program for students who seek a rigorous academic experience. At the same time, Lee welcomes and nurtures students who are behind academically, helping these students discover their potential and succeed.

We at Lee are proud of our heritage as a Church of God sponsored institution; however, we strive to maintain our sense of openness and acceptance to Christians of many denominations. Here are just a few of the religious affiliations represented: Church of God of Prophecy, Assembly of God, Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Independent/Non-denominational, and Presbyterian. Our chapel services reflect our diversity as well, as the range of different ministers and musical groups demonstrates a wide variety of worship styles.
