Rules
- The officials will be two referees using a dual
system of control.
- The intramural supervisor will be responsible
for player conduct during matches. Players are
responsible for their own eligibility (meaning they
must not be on academic, chapel, or social
probation). If a team plays with an ineligible
player, then that team will forfeit their match.
- A team may have two to four participants playing
at the same time.
- A match will consist of the best two of three
games to 15 points (win by two). If a third game is
needed, it will be decided by rally scoring (every
sequence is a point).
- Players will be expected to call their own fouls
and keep their own score. The supervisor will not be
responsible for officiating unless absolutely
necessary.
- A team must rotate in a clockwise direction upon
gaining the side out. Failure to rotate, or serving
out of rotation will result in a loss of serve.
- Players must serve from behind the end line and
within the two sidelines.
- Teams are allowed three contacts to return the
ball. A block does not count as a hit. The ball may
not be lifted, held, or thrown during the act of
playing the ball.
- A ball may be played with any part of the body.
A double contact is allowed on the first team
contact as long as there is only one attempt to play
the ball.
- A ball must pass within the net posts when
crossing the net.
- Players may not touch the net at any time.
- A serve that hits the net, but goes over, is
still in play.
- A game ball will be provided. It must be used
unless both teams agree on a different ball.
This is only a partial list of
rules. USA Volleyball rules will be in effect unless
noted above. |
