Rules
- A game will consist of two 16 minute halves. The
clock runs continuously until the final 2 minutes of
the second half. The clock will stop with each dead
ball (including a score) during the final 2 minutes
of the game. If a team is up by 15 points at this
juncture, the clock will continue to run. Each game
will begin with prayer and a jump ball to determine
first possession. Alternate possession will kick in
thereafter. The ball used must be an official
intramural ball unless both teams agree on a
different ball. Each team is allowed one time out
per half. Time outs may not carry over to the second
half. There will be a two-minute halftime
intermission.
- A team must consist of five players to start the
game. A player will foul out of the game with the
accumulation of 5 personal fouls or two technical
fouls within the same game. Technical fouls also
count as personal fouls. Players ejected for
unsportsmanlike conduct must meet with the
intramural director before their next competition.
All ejections carry a minimum one game suspension.
Fighting will result in suspension from the league.
- Players may enter/exit the game on a dead ball
with permission from the official.
- A team may only “stall” in the half court for 15
seconds on the perimeter, and once prompted by an
official, they then must make an attempt score
within 5 seconds. Failure to do so will result in a
change of possession. This rule will only be
enforced during the last two minutes of a close game
or when a team is deliberately stalling.
- The 3 point rule will be used whenever we have a
three point line.
- With 7 team fouls, the opponents will be in a 1
& 1 bonus. With 10 or more team fouls, the opponents
will receive 2 shots per foul.
- In the event of a tie, a three minute overtime
will be played. In the regular season if a winner is
not decided after the first overtime, the game will
be declared a tie.
- All technical fouls will result in two free
throws, but not an automatic change of possession.
- All players and coaches will be expected to
maintain a Christian attitude.
- All other rules will be governed by the NIRSA
basketball rule book.
