Ultimately
we see the Poiema Project as a vehicle a way to
bring the dialogue of theology and vocation to
the broader Christian community. (At Lee, we are
simply starting the conversation.) As the only
liberal arts institution sponsored by the Church
of God, we believe it’s our role to be both a
repository of diverse ideas, and an informed
source of the Pentecostal perspective.
Some of the programs designed to expand and
inform this conversation include a symposium,
faculty forum on vocation, luncheons with local
pastors, and an alumni mentor network.
Answering the Call in
the Spirit Symposium
To explore the traditional Pentecostal
definition of calling within the Church of God
and the larger Pentecostal community, this
symposium centers around the publication of Dr.
Terry Cross’s book, Answering the Call in the
Spirit.
Luncheons with Local
Pastors
The Poiema Project engages local clergy from the
Church of God and other denominations by hosting
an annual luncheon for 15 pastors. The luncheons
inform the local church community about the
Project and its goals, and work to connect more
pastors with our student internships and
training programs.
Alumni Mentor Network
The Network provides support for new ministry
graduates by matching them with established
pastors who act as guides and mentors during
their first two years of service. The network
also serves to extend the dialogue on calling to
the denomination and alumni base.
Faculty Forum on
Vocation
For this event, Lee hosts faculty from other
Christian liberal arts institutions. |
