Alumna Michels Promoted to Life Care PR Director
Friday, February 03, 2012
Lee University alumna Leigh Michels was recently promoted to director
of Life Care Centers of America’s public relations department.
Previously
public relations coordinator, Michels will now lead Life Care’s PR team
in the communication efforts of Life Care corporate offices, as well as
facilities nationwide. As director, she will oversee the production of
marketing products, Life Care’s two major magazines, and direct mail
recruitment efforts. She will also contribute to media and community
relations initiatives.
While a student at Lee, her internship
with Life Care led to a full-time position as public relations
assistant. One year later, she was promoted to special projects
coordinator where she served as a legal liaison between the public
relations and legal teams, assisting with crisis communications.
Michels
said, “When I think of my time in the Lee communication program, I
think of the professors I spent so much time with. Professors like Dr.
Patty Silverman taught from her real-world experiences and pushed me to
pursue excellence.”
Michels graduated from Lee (2008) with a
bachelor’s in communication with an emphasis in public relations. She
was involved in Lee’s 2006-07 Bateman team, Public Relations Students
Society of America, and Lambda Pi Eta. Michels is currently serving as
professional advisor to Lee’s 2011-12 Bateman team.
