The conditions of loan services are set by national,
regional, and state codes as well as by policies of individual lending
libraries. Most libraries normally loan books and photocopies of articles.
Other types of items may not be available. The following materials are
usually not loaned:
Books - published the same year as the request
Periodicals - whole volumes or issues
Audiovisual materials (phonograph records, CDs, cassette
tapes, videos, software, photographs, film)
Bulky, fragile, or oversized materials that are expensive
or difficult to pack
Rare material, including manuscripts
Genealogical and other similar materials
Dissertations (Many American and Canadian dissertations
are only available by purchase.)
If you need any of these materials, please inquire at
the Reference Desk for assistance: (423) 614-8562.
