Cross-Cultural Opportunities
The Global
Perspectives Program is one of the most unique and
exciting opportunities that Lee University offers
because it gives students the chance to travel the
world. In fact, studying another culture is a
requirement of the core curriculum. Lee University
requires every student to have an academically designed
cross-cultural experience prior to graduation and offers
three options for doing so:
-
Participate in one of Lee's many
school-sponsored Global Perspectives Trips;
-
Apply to conduct an Individually Arranged
Cross-Cultural Study;
-
Qualify for exemption from the
Cross-Cultural experience requirement;
Through the
Global Perspectives Program, students will fulfill at
least two hours of cross-cultural credit: GNST
200: Global Perspectives Seminar and GNST 250-3:
Cross-Cultural Experience. While GNST 200 is the
course that prepares you to interact in a culture
different than your own, GNST 250-3 is the actual
experience of engaging and immersing yourself within an
intended target culture. This is not a class which
meets throughout the semester or summer term, but the
credit you receive for the actual cross-cultural
experience.
