1. Trip directors should work with
their department chair to create a cross-cultural experience with
the goal of fulfilling the mission of the Global Perspectives
Program.
2.
Before a trip director submits their program
proposal via the online proposal tracking system, he/she must complete the following preparatory
steps:
-
The department chair
should advise the trip director in both the financial and
academic aspects of the Global Perspectives Program and ensure that the trip director
appropriately completes all course syllabi as well as all
preparatory forms. These forms are available on the
Academic Affairs Share Drive and must be completed prior to
beginning the online proposal process.
-
All new course syllabi must originate in the
respective academic department and must be approved through
normal channels.
-
Trip Directors need to become
familiar with the academic requirements of the cross-cultural
component using the
GNST 250 Course Assignment Syllabus.
-
It is especially important that you prepare a budget
before beginning the online process. Prior to
submitting proposals for new trips, it is mandatory that the
trip director meet with Kate Price, Budget Director, to discuss
the Global Perspectives Budget Approval Form. Trip directors
submitting subsequent proposals for existing programs do not
need to meet with the Budget Director unless otherwise
requested.
All required forms and all syllabi must be
submitted each time a trip director is requesting
approval for a global perspectives trip.
3. Upon completion of
the preparatory steps, directors may begin the online process of
submitting their proposal at
http://faculty.leeu.edu/~global/pts . Logging in to the Online
Proposal Tracking System as a first time user will automatically
notify the Global Perspectives Office that you would like access to
the proposal website; your user account for the site will activated
shortly thereafter.
4.
Once all trip information has been entered via the Online Proposal
Tracking System, the site will allow the trip director to submit
his/her proposal for approval. The approval routing process begins
at Level 1 with the respective department chair, progresses through
the Academic Dean, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Global
Perspectives Office, Budget Director, Registrar,
and ends at level 7 with the Global Perspectives Committee.
5.
Once a proposal has been approved by the Global Perspectives
Committee, the trip director will be notified via email by the
Global Perspectives Office. Upon receipt of the email confirmation,
students may be recruited. Trip directors who wish to recruit
students prior to receiving official trip approval from the Global
Perspectives Committee must always include a disclaimer stating the program is
“pending committee approval.”
6. Once students have
been successfully recruited, the trip director must facilitate their
acceptance into the program and see that they fulfill the
obligations required by various administrative offices for travel.
