Monthly Planning Calendar

 

Junior Year in High School

  • Investigate private scholarships and other student aid programs. Develop calendar of application deadlines.
  • Check with local organizations and utilize free internet scholarship searches in our Free Scholarship Searches section.

Senior Year in High School

September

  • Apply for admission ($25 fee).
  • Submit housing application ($200 deposit).
  • Plan to attend one of Lee's 5 Frontline events.
  • Continue investigating private scholarships and other student aid programs.

October

  • Take the ACT or SAT & plan your retakes!  Minimums for acceptance are 17 on the ACT and 860 on the SAT.
  • Attend our Frontline this month.
  • Continue investigating private scholarships and other student aid programs.

November

  • Attend our Frontline this month.
  • Continue investigating private scholarships and other student aid programs.

December

  • Send transcripts or GED scores.
  • Continue investigating private scholarships and other student aid programs.

January

February

  • Attend the Financial Aid Fair.
  • Complete tax forms as quickly as possible (keep copies of everything for your records).
  • Complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • Attend Frontline.

March

  • Continue your research of outside funding sources.
  • 15th - the LAST day to apply for the Lee University Endowment Scholarships.
  • Look for your Student Aid Report (SAR) in the mail; be sure to review it and submit corrections if necessary.
  • Financial Aid Office will begin notifying students with complete file.

April

  • If it's been four weeks since you sent in your FAFSA form and you've not received the results, contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID or at 319-337-5665.
  • Attend the Lee Day Weekend.
  • Ask about Summer Honors.

May

  • Decided where you're going?  If not, revisit schools.
  • Send final transcripts or GED scores.

June

  • Endowment winners notified
  • Using student and/or parent loans for the first time?  Visit our loans section and complete the Master Promissory Note.
  • Get your immunizations.
  • Housing assignments mailed with Gateway Portfolio.

July

  • Notify the financial aid office of any private scholarships received.
  • Complete the Gateway Portfolio.
  • 19th - Final day to submit a request for housing deposit refund for fall semester.

August

  • 1st - Roommate assignments mailed.
  • Make sure you clear the business office to complete registration
  • Have a great year!!!
