    Assistant Professor in Nursing
    Vanessa Rose Phipps joined Lee University as one of the first faculty members for the School of Nursing. Vanessa comes from Gruetli-Laager, TN. She completed the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at Vanderbilt University. She received her Master’s in Nursing Education and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Barton College in Wilson, NC. Her research includes “Improving Patient Safety through Teamwork: Utilizing Simulation as a Tool, An Integrative Literature Review” and “Resiliency in Rural Tennessee Adolescents.”

    Dr. Phipps brings more than ten years of nursing experience in many different areas such as pediatrics, medical-surgical, hematology/oncology, cardiothoracic step-down, primary care, and nursing education. She also has experience in simulation labs. She served as faculty at Barton College in Wilson, NC, and as a pediatric nurse practitioner and school nurse in Sewanee, TN.
