• Lee University’s School of Nursing is pleased to announce a NEW, non-nursing major; Disaster and Healthcare Mission Management (DHMM) beginning Fall 2018. The purpose of the Disaster and Healthcare Mission Management (DHMM) degree program is to prepare graduates to function in team management roles for: Disaster Teams and Healthcare Mission Teams.

    Specific Programmatic Goals/Objectives

    The objectives/goals of the Disaster Healthcare Mission Management program are to:Prepare the graduate to demonstrate competency according to national and international standards of practice and operations for disaster healthcare mission management.

    1. Prepare the graduate for entry into practice in the area of disaster and healthcare mission management.
    2. Provide preparation that serves as a foundation for graduate level related studies.
     
    Specific Student Learning Outcomes

    Graduates should be able to demonstrate the following knowledge and skills: Develop, implement, and evaluate strategic team plans for disaster and healthcare mission teams locally, nationally and globally.

    1. Collaborate with appropriate agencies focused on humanitarian healthcare assistance.
    2. Manage and lead interprofessional teams assembled and dispatched to serve diverse populations requiring emergency, short-term, and long-term relief care.
    3. Provide first aid and additional skills obtained through specialized training and certifications relevant to disaster and healthcare missions.
    4. Manage logistics related to disaster and healthcare mission teams.
    5. Develop and manage an effective budget and finance plan for all phases of disaster and healthcare mission teams.
    6. Use a global perspective and Christian worldview in responding to disaster and healthcare mission needs and events.
