Assistant Professor of Music, Graduate Studies in Music Education
Linda Thompson, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at Lee University in Cleveland, TN. She received her BS in Secondary Education - Music from Northern State University, and a Master of Science in Education and Music from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her Ph.D. in Music Education, from University of Arizona, included a minor in Teaching and Teacher Education. Prior academic positions include serving as an assistant professor at the Crane School of Music, SUNY-Potsdam and the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.

Thompson's research and teaching interests include preservice teacher development, sociological aspects of music education, and music for special learners. She has presented at local, state, national, and international conferences and is published in the Bulletin of the Council of Research in Music Education, Journal of Music Therapy, Music Educators' Journal, and General Music Today. Currently Dr. Thompson serves as the chair of the Music Education Special Interest Group of AERA as well as serving on the executive board of the Society of Music Teacher Education. Thompson also holds Orff Certification and maintains memberships with MENC:NAME, AERA, AOSA, and OAKE.

Dr. Thompson's public school teaching experience included elementary general music and middle school choral music in Evanston, Wyoming. In addition, Dr. Thompson has taught private piano to children and adults for the past 25 years.

Dr. Thompson is married to Dr. Mike Leuze, a computational scientist. Their favorite pastimes include cycling and downhill skiing.
