LuAnn Holden is Assistant Professor of Music Education and Chair of the Department of Vocal Music at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. Her teaching responsibilities include the instruction of methods for teaching choral and general music in elementary and secondary schools as well as the supervision of music education student teachers.
Mrs. Holden earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree with vocal emphasis from Wesleyan College and Masters of Music degree in choral music education from Georgia State University. She was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Chorus, which at that time was conducted by the legendary Robert Shaw. Membership in professional organizations includes MENC: The National Association for Music Education, The American Choral Directors Association and Chorus America.
Mrs. Holden brings fifteen years of public school music teaching experience into the college classroom. While teaching music in the schools of Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee, her choirs consistently received superior ratings at choral festivals. Recent professional work has included conducting the 2007 Tennessee All- East Women’s Choir, presenting the interest session, “Teaching Critical Thinking Skills in a Choral Rehearsal” at the 2008 American Choral Directors Association Southern Regional Conference and serving as a choral festival adjudicator for the Georgia Music Educators Association. She is also active as a guest conductor for festival choirs.
In addition to her work in the School of Music, Mrs. Holden is the Artistic Director of the Chattanooga Girls Choir—a five tier community chorus with an enrollment of 150 singers. She conducts the Jubilate Choir (7-8th grade) and the Grace Moore Singers (9-12th grade), as well as the touring choir. |
