The Lee University Chamber Strings:
Prof. Xiaoqing Yu, Director

On behalf of the Lee University Chamber Strings at Lee University School of Music, I would like to bring to your attention a significant opportunity to collaborate with the fastest growing and most energetic ensemble on the campus of Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. The Lee University Chamber Strings is a forty-member ensemble composed of the institution’s finest violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists providing innovative programming for venues on and off campus, beyond the annual concerts here at Lee University, the ensemble has been invited to perform at the state capital 4 years in a roll. Since 2005, the membership of this ensemble has grown from five to forty--an unprecedented increase of seven hundred percent!

Recently, the Lee University Chamber Strings has been invited to perform a concert tour across mainland China in the summer of 2010. This is a historic opportunity not only for the ensemble, but also for Lee University and the greater Chattanooga community. This tour will consist of performances at various venues including several universities, orphanages, high-profile music festivals in Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Qingdao, Dalian, and the Shanghai Expo. The Shanghai Expo is a major international festival that celebrates Chinese culture and expression and is attended by thousands from the international press corps. The reputation of the Shanghai Expo would provide all involved with tremendous potential for reaching an enormous demographic. As the chamber strings celebrates the cross over culture and expression, there are grand opportunities for people who are interested in supporting and being part of the culture exchange.

The Lee University Chamber Strings desires to extend an invitation to you to collaborate with us in this endeavor. This partnership has the potential to not only give international exposure to your corporation, but also aid students in achieving their educational and professional goals. In addition, this tour will introduce hundreds of Chinese orphans to the beauty of music. The Chamber Strings is seeking sponsorship, and would be highly appreciated whatever assistance you may feel inclined to donate. I am extremely grateful for your time and consideration in this matter.
